West Lake Hills

The current population of West Lake is about 3,100 residents, with about 200 business and 1,000 homes.

In 1953, West Lake Hills was born as a village adjoining Austin's western edge. It officially became a city in 1957. Since its early years, West Lake Hills has attracted Austinites seeking a close-knit community, excellent schools and development that preserves the environment and its rural town feel. West Lake features the rolling hills of the Edwards Plateau and the sparkling waters of Barton Creek. At only four square miles in size, but six miles from downtown Austin, West Lake truly offers small-town living with around-the-corner access to the big city.

Eanes Independent School District was created in 1969 and today serves 7,100 students in nine schools. In addition to West Lake Hills proper, Eanes ISD boundaries include parts of Austin and Rollingwood. The district includes six elementaries, two middle schools and one high school.

West Lake is minutes from downtown Austin and boasts excellent retail, restaurants, parks and a small town community feel.
